National Archive Strategic Plan Analysis
This collaborative organizational analysis examined the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) through the lenses of strategic planning, public engagement, digitization, budgeting, and institutional transparency. Completed in collaboration with Jessica Cavanagh and Judy Low for LIS 580: Management of Information Organizations, the project evaluated NARA’s operational structure, financial priorities, technological initiatives, and evolving role as a national memory institution.
The analysis incorporated SWOT and PEST frameworks, budget evaluations, and strategic recommendations focused on digitization expansion, genealogy services, and public trust initiatives. My contribution centered on the proposed Digitization Expansion Initiative, which explored staffing, metadata creation, infrastructure development, and long-term sustainability strategies for increasing digital access to archival materials.
This project strengthened my understanding of archives administration, strategic planning, organizational analysis, and the challenges cultural heritage institutions face in balancing preservation, accessibility, transparency, and technological change.
